relative clause with a preposition

Hi, there,

1. This is the hotel which I stayed at before.

2. I remember the day which I first met on.

Only No.2 sounds weird to me though a relative pronoun can be used with a preposition seperately.

·Is No.2 grammartically correct?
·Does the usage depend on the type of an antecedent (place or time)?

Top answer

2 sounds weird to me Me, too. 2 grammartically correct? No; 'met' needs an object: I remember the day which I first met John on.

Thank you, Mister Micawber,

So, is "I remember the day which I first met John on." a correct sentence?

Yes. That's why I wrote it that way. It would be even more native if you use 'that' instead of 'which' or simply omit 'which'.
