Relative clause

Hi,

A: Why?

B: To get information about the science behind the whitening effect that is used.

Q1) What is the antecedent of the relative clause?

I think it's 'science'. Am I correct about this?

Q2) Why is it that the relative clause doesn't follow immediately its antecedent? Any reason why it's positioned at the end of the sentence?

Thanks in advance for your help.
