Grammar

Relative adverb & that

Hello teachers!

I was wondering if it's possible by any chance (i mean in both formal & colloquial sense) that the following sentence can be grammatical.

"The bed that i slept last night was good"

If you have a reference as to explain the usage, it will be fantastic. Even if you don't have it, it's still fine Emotion: smile

Thank you very much in advance.

Thank you so much, Blue Jay!

One thing i am curious about though is how the word "that" can be used instead of "on which" in a sentence like

"The day on which an important operation is called a d-day", without leaving the preposition "on"

but it needs the preposition in the sentence that i asked in the first place.

Thank you!

You might say that times (day, moment, time, month, year, ...) are outside the scope of that preposition rule.

The bed that I slept last night was good.

The problem with your sentence (besides the punctuation) is that the dependent clause "I slept last night" does not connect properly with "bed."

We do not say: "I slept bed." The verb "sleep" does not take an object.

Maybe not in the relevant reading for this thread, but then again:

This cabin sleeps four adults and two children.
