Relationships for references

I am currently completing job applications, but I am a little confused as to what to write for the 'Relationship' question concerning my references.
The references listed were not technically my managers/bosses, however they are 'above' me within the organisation I was working so I feel I cannot call them co-workers.

Could anyone help me out and let me know what sort of term I should use.
