Relationship between leaving out letters in words and leaving out notes when playing music.
What is the relationship- if any at all, between not speaking clearly, to leaving out letters in writing and leaving out notes in music?

I agree with Clive that it's possibly because of a lack of discipline.
Reading and writing use a different part of the brain than does music, so it's hard to blame the brain.
Is the person able to memorize simple tunes and/or rhymes?
