Vocabulary

rejig

The US says it expected Egypt's new president to rejig the military. (rejig = reorganize)
Is this ok in AmE too?

I heard the following sentence (well I can only remember a part of it) on CNN.
....entire villages completely obliterated from the earthquake.

The preposition "from" seems wrong and "by" correct there. Right?

Top answer

Rejig isn't common in AmE. I've never heard it before. "From" and "by" both work in your sentence.

"From" and "by" both work in your sentence. Some collocation examples: "The damage was from the earthquake." "The damage was caused by the earthquake."
