Regret + having told or telling

"I regret telling him the truth."

"I regret having told him the truth."

I know I repeat myself and keep posting the same thing, but to be 100% sure, do both sentences carry the same meaning? There may be some shades of slight difference, which I still do not know, but maybe in this case it would mean being far too meticulous to get to know the difference.Emotion: smile

Thanks properly in advance.

I see no difference in intent. The second perhaps stresses the 'pastness' of the act, since 'telling' in the first sentence carries no intrinsic time sense.
