Register with sth.

Hi, ..

Can the construct/pattern, register with, be used to mean that a given definition or criterion is applicable to something? For example:

"The definition for that part of the society significantly mutated over time, and, as a result, many of the individuals who previously registered with it no longer belong, while new ones are included"

Surfer Can the construct/pattern, register with, be used to mean that a given definition or criterion is applicable to something? I wouldn't. "Register" sounds like you're avoiding plain English, for one thing, and the definition is a bit off.

  • They previously belonged to it, and the repetion with "belong" is fine.
  • You had better have a good reson for "mutated", too.
