this is the idea I wish to convey...
some people argue that IA was born in the 80s... others argue that it was born in the 50s
but regardless of those different opinions the fact is that it is old enough today

How about like this:
Regardless of when the information is believed to have been born, we can affirm that it has reached adulthood.
