Regarding the use of ''s"

Sentence: "My father often tells me"

My question: Should "s" come at the end of word tell in the sentence ?

**Asking this because Google has confused me...with most people using the word "tell" without "s" at the end. My own opinion is "s" should come there because "my father" is a third person singular. But anyway I's like to know your replies before using it.

Regards and thanks
