Regarding the usage of article "a"

Sentence: "Prima facie it appeares he bought a proxy stake thorough a well laidout plan"

My doubt/question: Unsure whether the article a would come before the word proxy in the above mentioned sentence or not. Need your help. Please tell what you think.
