Regarding same as of?

I am proof reading a document for a friend who keeps using "regarding" where I would use "of". Can these be used interchangeably or is there a difference in meaning/rule?

e.g. The background regarding different simulation techniques and sorting algorithms are discussed in Chapter 4.

The results regarding these simulations can be found in Section 10.

This is followed by an investigation regarding the accuracy and cost of the chosen algorithm.

Am I right in saying that "of" would work better in these cases or is "regarding" fine and I am just not used to its usage in this context. I tried an internet search but I only found discussions on the difference (if any) between regarding and about.
