Regarding "S" plural confusion

Sentence: "Religious laws don't apply to non-religious people, artist(s), activist(s), painter(s), atheist(s) et al."

Doubt: Should the words: artist, activist, painter, atheist have "s" at their end(s?) ? or Are they plural with "s".

Thanks

I would suggest that in the US, the word "artist" brings the idea of visual artist (painter, etc.) to mind before it does an actor, singer, dancer, etc. You may want to change it to "performers" if you want this to work for a US audience.
