Regarding preposition: in and at

When we are inside our home we say "I am at home" . Note the preposition at here.

But I heard one person, who speaks good English, saying "sit in his home and abuse people online". Why would be use preposition in here and not at?

You can say it both ways.

He is at home.
I sit at home.
He sits at home.
