Letter Writing

Regarding PhD

Dear

i am recently graduated from the university.now i am looking for a PhD.So i wrote a motivation letter regarding this. I need your suggestion about my motivation letter.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to apply for a position as a PhD Student, at your University , in the area of,

XXX

I have a 5 years experience as a lecturer in the field of materials science, CAD/CAM, Thermodynamics, Production Technology and Fluid Mechanics. So I have a good knowledge of these subjects. I graduated from XX University, in the field of Mechanical Engineering. I have finished two Master Degree in the field of Manufacturing Technology and Automotive Engineering. From Master of Science in Automotive Engineering from XXX, UK, I got an international exposure and got a good command on finite element analysis (Ansys), Noise, Vibration and harshness (Dynamic Analysis), Computational Fluid Dynamics, Aerodynamic and depth knowledge of Automobiles. My education in Manufacturing Technology, this master of engineering degree aims to give broad understanding of advances manufacturing methods, composite materials, tool engineering and also give the basic knowledge of artificial intelligence in manufacturing, Industrial Instrumentation (sensors and actuators)

My education in Mechanical Engineering has been particularly broad by Indian standards, this degree aims to give us a broad understanding of the many fields related to materials science, Thermodynamic engineering, Engineering Drawing, CAD/CAM, Mathematics, Physics, Heat Transfer, Strength of Materials, Production Technology, Fluid Mechanics,Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and Industrial Management instead of concentrating in a particular field or topic. In all the years from the graduation (B.E) to Masters of Engineering in Manufacturing Technology. I was a winner of study scholarship, a position which means to be from 10% of the top of all the students. During the academic year .I had the privilege of participating in the Intensive Course of Finite Element Analysis, Pro Engineer, Non Destructive Testing (NDT), and in a Workshop Non Destructive Testing, Modal Analysis, and Computational Fluid Dynamics. In the academic year 1996, 1997 I participated at the National Level in Table Tennis and secured silver medal where I encountered a completely different academic environment with which I learnt a great deal.

I have about 4 research paper, Published in my country, I have a Life membership of Indian Society of Technical Education and also I was a student member in Organizing Committee for some Conference organized by our Department (Manufacturing Technology).

As my curriculum vitae shows, I have had excellent opportunities to teach a variety of writing courses. I have also worked as a teaching mentor for students, a position that involved instruction of a few students helping them to their license diploma or bachelor degree. Also I worked for development of course materials, and evaluation of new graduate instructors.

I believe that my teaching, tutoring experience combined with my course work, research

background and basic knowledge of sensors and actuators, good knowledge of modal analysis,

Finite element analysis. So these things make me a right candidate for this position.

I have included my curriculum vitae and covering letter and university transcripts. Thank you

very much for taking the time to consider my application. I look forward to your positive

response.

Sincerely,
