Regarding Has been and Have been ?

Sentence: "This so called slush money, money laudering, etc has been/have been discovered by the Government only to divert the attention from important issues"

My question: Which tense would be right for this sentence has been or have been ?

Thanks

It should be "has been" to agree with "this". "divert attention" is more usual than "divert the attention". " You have a typo in "laundering" and are missing a period at the end of the sentence.

"divert attention" is more usual than "divert the attention". I would hyphenate "so-called" and use a period after "etc." You have a typo in "laundering" and are missing a period at the end of the sentence.

Thanks. I also wanted to use "has been" but got confused by the plurals (slush money, money laundering, etc.)
