regarding / as regards / with regard to / with respect to / in respect of
Hi people!
I've been browsing the site, but none of the answers given on the different topics have successfully dispelled my doubts: Are all the following synonyms?:
regarding - as regards - with regard to - in regard to - with respect to - in respect of - concerning - as concerns - with reference to - in reference to
Let me give you a bit of context:
Someone receives the following email:
Hi Susan!! We never heard back from you. How is everything at home? How about your payment?
Let us know...
And writes the reply below:
Hi Marion! How are you?
At home, everyhting is going just fine. Regarding payment, I think I'm going collect it on Thursday.
Is the above sentence correct? Would you introduce any changes? Could any of the words "as regards - with regard to - in regard to - with respect to - in respect of - concerning - as concerns - with reference to - in reference to" fit into this sentence in place of "regarding"?

They seem like synonyms to me. They can all be used to introduce a statement, or to link two items, except (I think) "in respect of":
1. Discrimination in respect of Employment and Occupation.
– ok.

"Regarding" and "as regards" are slightly less formal. I don't hear "as conc

It seeme to me these words put at the beginning of the sentences. I never heard of " as concerns "
With/ in reference to, with respect to or in spect to , are used especially in commerce.
as regards, with regard to and in regard to are not used in commerce.

Hi guys,
There are always special contexts to consider, but generally speaking, I see these expressions as synonymous.
In my opinion, sometimes these phrases are used where a more 'modest' construction using 'about' would do just as well, and be clearer.

I'd be happy to see more abouts and fewer regards. It's a pity "as to" can be misinterpreted.

they aren't ALL synonyms: as regards, in respect of, as concerns, are improper. They would be instead, and respectively, "as IT regards", "in respect TO", and "as IT concerns". And yes, these are fairly interchangeable, though not "synonyms" sic, (synonymous), though each are used differently in context, depending on style (I won't go into examples here, but you can request them, if it's importan

Untrue. All of these seem a little bizarre, to be honest. Particularly "as it regards" - never have I heard or seen this used, and it sounds clunky and non-native. Same with "in respect to". Either "with respect to" or "in respect of" are perfectly acceptable, and indeed, widely used.
"As it concerns" is fine as an adjunct (ie. "it is not relevant here, as it concerns other matter
