Regarding article use.

Question: Do we need to use article before the number when we use/say "3 lakh rupees"? Should it be like "a 3 lakh rupees"? Like, I need to pay a 3 lakh rupees to someone?

I need to pay a lakh of rupees to someone or I need to pay
