Hi! this a question I have to do: I want to connect two sentences, the first one states a desire, and the second one states that the first one will happen only if some requirements are met. I am not sure about what connector shall I use (I'm thinking in "regarding" as a conector)
Here are the two sentences: We could start an academic relationship (only if) I am accepted by the University.

'In regards to' and 'regarding' function as prepositions and need a noun or noun phrase as an object, Jesse. They mean 'on the topic of', 'concerning'. They do not work as conjunctions, or in expressing cause and effect.
I can work it into your sentences, but it is an awkward way to express the idea:
'Regarding an academic relationship, it would possible only if I am accepted
