Hmm.. How do i say this..

How do we know if it should be in a plural or singular forms? In your second example, "Give the family my best regards", I would not know to make it plural if you had not made that as an example. Isn't 'regard' an uncountable noun? I know my question sounds a bit silly. Hehe. But English being my second language, there are still things i could not understand wel
