Reg: Usage of the word "repel" and "optical"...

Hi,

I wrote a sentence as "Many of my friends always comment about my eye optical and this makes me to repel from wearing eye optical."

My friend says "repel" is not an apt word to be used here.is he correct?

Also I wrote as "eye opticals" in MS-Word. It shows an error and it allows me to type "eye optical" alone.

Is optical the plural form?

Please let me know and thanks to those who have helped me in my previous questions.

'Eye optical' is completely wrong. Say 'glasses'.

Say eg

I think 'optical' may be the incorrect word. Do you mean glasses or spectacles? Optics? If so, glasses is the more common phrase.

Okay, i have seen some Eye glass shops named as

"XYZ OPTICALS"

Why are they called so? Does it mean Opticals include Eye Glasses, Eye Lenses and every thing else related?

Hi,

It's just not a good name. More normal would be eg XYZ Opticians.

An optician is a person, a sight specialist.

'Optical' is an adjective relating to sight / vision.
