I'd like to ask you about something from the passage below:
Will those who have seen him in life (Jesus) know him by this portrait, Theophanes?’ ‘Most assuredly, sir,’ the slave answered. Theophanes had no basis for believing this. Those who had known the Jewish messiah were themselves Jews. As everyone knew, Jews refused to gaze upon any human image.
---The above text is pretty simple, but does the part "Jews refused to gaze upon any human image" mean that the Jews didn't look at other men? That sounds strange to me that's why I'm asking. Maybe they didn't look at paintings depicting human beings. What do you think?
