Refunded

I got refunded for the book, but it would had been better if they shipped me a new one instead. Or

I got refunded for the book, but it would have been better if they shipped me a new one instead.

Which one is correct and shouldn't it be had because it should all be one tense and past perfect desribes a past event of another past event.

This is a third conditional. The if clause is counterfactual. ...WOULD HAVE ... IF ... HAD ....
