reforming

The Pentagon is reforming a selection committee to review applications for the fuel tanker plane contract.

1. Is the above correct?
2. Is reforming the right word to use? This will be the second selection committee because the first committee's consensus is disappointing.

To avoid doubt, I would say, "forming a new selection committee....'.

I'm assuming that by "reforming" you mean "forming again".

Whether it's the right word really depends on whether it's considered a new incarnation of the same committee or a new committee altogether. If the former, then it's fine, but I would personally hyphenate it ("re-forming") to avoid confusion with the other meaning of "reform". Some people might be happy leaving it unhyphenated.
