Reform of trade...

Hi

A reform of trade would make an even bigger difference than a reform of the debt burden. If Africa had the same share of the global market that it had in the Seventies, it would double the amount of aid the whole world gives it in a year, every year.

--- The second sentence is pretty simple, I guess. To me it says that if Africa traded with other countries just like many other rich countries do it between each other, and this is what they allegadly did in the Seventies, then it would help them a lot, it would give them much more money.

As for the first I'm not quite sure? Maybe it says that if somehow Africa had a chance to trade with other countries it would be much more beneficial for them then remitting their debts and giving them money, I'm not sure?

I believe you have it all correct - except "reforming the debt burden" would not necessarily mean giving them money. I take "reforming" here to mean "restructuring."
