Context:

Laughter is another response to the way that artists use concepts, materials and language, and create incongruities between their reality and the viewer’s. I have found the incongruities in the artworks presented in this book to be humorous in varying degrees. While you may not agree with my ideas on what is humorous, it is perhaps more important to pay attention to your own responses to the artworks presented in this book so that greater self-awareness, understanding and appreciation of art and humour can occur.
