Reference list

HI! Does anyone know whether there exists such a way or writing a Reference List when initials go first, then comma, then the title of the work, etc. For instance,

J. V. Carson, The modelling of moderators, Science 248 (2012) 160-245.

You should consult your publisher for their required format. If you are doing it yourself, you can do it any way you like as long as it is clear, complete and consistent, but to alphabetize any such list by last name is us

enoonbut to alphabetize any such list by last name is usual.
Thanks! The problem is that there is a bunch of initials that preceed the last names, so it is almost impossible to alphabetize the list. Should I alphabetize according to the initials then?

No. Alphabetize by last name, and put the initials after the name - as enoon did.

Hi and thank you. I would have done it myself, of course, but since the work isn't mine, I cannnot change anything.
I just wondered if this method of writing reference lists was totally unacceptable. However, enoon said that reference lists can be written any way possible, unless they are consistent. What's your opinion then? Is it really weird if initials go first?

I don't understand. You say you can't change anything, but you are having trouble alphabetizing, so the list does not exist yet. I think you are allowed to properly format citations as editor. I would never make a reference list with initials first.

Enoon, sorry for misunderstanding. What I meant was that I have a list starting with initials, and just wanted to make sure if it was in any way appropriate. I read there was a way of writing such lists, but you say otherwise, so I really have to think about it now.

Unfortumately, not everythings depends on me in this crappy place. I can't change anything, although I would like to, that's why wanted to make sure if the list was totally wrong or not. Thanks for your help.

P.S. - Without the month, it's:

Carson, J. V. 2012. The modelling of moderators. Science 248:160–245.

OK, then, I guess you will have to alphabetize by initials. I hesitate to
