Refer to/Point to

Are "refer to" and "point to" interchangeable?

Is it possible to replace "refers to" with "points to" in the following sentence?

The Roman Catholic Mass refers to the consecrated bread and wine as the "body of Christ" and the "blood of Christ."

Snappy Is it possible to replace "refers to" with "points to" in the following sentence? Yes, but I have to say, it doesn't sound as good like that. Instead of "refers to" you can also have "designates", "identifies", or "interprets".
