Reenacted it

Hi, I found this explantion for "reenacted" enact or perform again

I understand from that some people were sitting, while Joseph smith is not alive anymore and they were writing scriptures?

"Joseph Smith restored not only the forms of New Testament religion but its power. He claimed revelation like Peter and Paul, wrote scripture, and claimed direct authority from God. Angels visited him and bestowed their powers. Rather than emulating biblical religion, the Mormons in their own eyes reenacted it."
