Reduction in or of?

Is there any difference between "reduction/increase in" and "reduction/increase of"?

For example, are the following examples both correct and do they have the same meaning?

(1) Reduction in hazardous waste

(2) Reduction of hazardous waste

----------------------------------

(a) Increase in hazardous waste

(b) Increase of hazardous waste

My oxford wordpower dictionary shows examples using “in” for both words, but in the case of the above-mentioned phrases, I found more sentences using “of” in google results.

Thank you in advance for your help.
