Reduced relative clause

Hello sir
I want to understand difference in uses of infinitive vs participle in cases of reduced relative clause.
When to use to what?
Plane to arrive vs plane arriving?
Can both be used interchangeably
Also if i say dog sitting
It refers to dog that is sitting there also do g that sits there, so isn't using reduced clauses wrong in this case?

Basically 1. when to use participle and when to use infinitive in place of relative clause? 2. Also just in brief when to use reduced relative clause at all, all cases like in place of preposition, to be, relative pronoun? Thankyou so much
