Reduced adverb clause

I've learned about reduced adverb clauses. I would like to know if sentence is correct:

"Because believing there is life on other planets, some people listen to the airwaves."
(derived from "Because some poeple believe there is life on other planets, they listen to the airwaves.")

It should be "Because of" instead of "Because"?

Hi I think the general rule here is to use 'because of' if a noun/noun phrase follows, and to use 'because' if you can replace it with 'for the reason that'. Dokterjokkebrok

I'm not sure "because of believing" is the best thing to say though. Maybe "because of the belief..." or better "because of their belief that...". I don't know.

No, it's not correct. Leave out "because":

Believing there is life on other planets, some people ....
