Redrafting and text removements

Can I replace 'reworking' with ' redrafting' and text amputation with text removements?

(original text)

The publisher's reworkings and text amputation is tortuous process.

-->The publisher's redrating and text removements is also difficult process.

Perhaps I'm missing the boat here, but I think your revisions destroy the original intent. Perhaps some context would straighten me out.
