Recursive acronym

What is really a recursive acronym?

recursive is an adjective inflected form of recursion which is a noun.

recursion (noun)
2 : the determination of a succession of elements (as numbers or functions) by operation on one or more preceding elements according to a rule or formula involving a finite number of steps
[M-W's Col. Dic.]

I read this line on Wikipedia: "GNU" is a recursive acronym that stands for "GNU's Not Unix".

Okay, "N" stands for Not, and "U" stands for Unix. But what does "G" stands for? Any idea?

Please help me with this. Thanks.

G stands for GNU. That's why it's a recursive acronym.
GNU = Gnu is Not Unix

Hi,

There's a mirrior in in front of you, and another behind you.
In the one in front of you, you see yourself looking in a mirror. In that morror, you see yourself in the mirror behind you. In that mrror, you see yourself in the mirror in front of you. etc.. etc.
