Hi,

Could you tell me what the underlined part means? Since there's no context and the sentence is too short for me to even guess, I'm not sure how I should read it.

Actually I use four english-english dictionaries but when sentences are short, enoguh context is not given, I could read them in many ways. This time I couldn't be sure how I should take this "record," and wthout fixing its meaing the suceeding words make no sense to me, unfortunately.
