Recommendation letter for an average student

My lecturer has asked me to draft something for him to start with upon requesting for a recommendation letter. I was not an exceptional student and I am afraid I might turn out uninteresting in my own words. Can you please give me tips as to how I can go about this to send a positive image of me.

Have a positive image of yourself. Don't lie and don't give excuses. Otherwise your professor will not sign it.
