Recognising

Hi Everyone,

Can we say the following sentence?

'Brett's father isn't recognising him lately.'

I'm assuming you can, because 'recognise' here isn't a non-continuous verb.

Am I correct?

Thanks CC.
Emotion: thinking

Is the father suffering from some form of senile dementia? If so, I would probably use 'hasn't been recognising' with 'lately'.

Thanks fivejedjon. You're spot on.
Yes, I was referring to dementia.

Of course, present perfect continuous and not the simple present.

Thanks again.
