Recessed die

Embossing relief images formed by using a recessed die.

In my opinion a recessed die means = a metal shaper fitted (fixed) in a wall used in the factories.

Recessed = fixed into a hollow or space on the wall or ceiling
Die = a metal block used to press or cut something into a particular shape

Am I right?

(I have asked this question in other forums and they have answered me but I have not fully understood their answers.)
