Recently-so far

Hello,

1.She has not finished her novel so far.

The use of 'so far' in the above sentence indicate that the process of writing the novel started at some point in the past (not mentioned) and has not yet completed.

2. We have completed five projects so far and a few are still in progress.

Is my interpretation of 'so far' correct as mentioned in #1 and #2?

Thanks.

Yes for #1. You didn't offer an interpretation for #2. However, the use of "so far" in #1 does not feel tremendously natural to me.

Your interpretation is correct for both statements.

I agree with GPY that 'yet' is far more idiomatic than 'so far' in statement one.
