Recently or recent?

Which one is correct?

1) " This is the recently edited file."

2) " This is the recent edited file."

Top answer

(1) means that the editing happened recently. (2) means that file has been edited, and the file is also "recent" in some relevant sense. I would guess that you probably mean (1).
