Receive a good review

Hello everyone. I have a question.

Regarding the sentence below:

John is proud of his attempt having received a good review.

What word(s) can successfully replace the past participle received? I've come up with the following three words: gotten, had, and won. Do they all work? Which of the four verbs, including received, do you prefer in this particular case?

Top answer

seagull John is proud of his attempt having received a good review. It is a very poor construction. I had to read it three times to extract its intention.
