Yorkshire batsman Dawid Malan has been recalled to the England squad for the third Test against India at Headingley next week while Dom Sibley and Zak Crawley have been dropped

Please explain the use of the preposition "to" in "recalled to the England squad...". Why doesn't the preposition "for" work in that sentence (recalled for....)

Is there a tip to decide between "to" vs "for"?
