reason of request

Hi,

There is a webpage with an account form on it.
One of the fields on the form is named “Reason of request”.
I wonder if “reason of request” is a common enough cliché in English?
Could you give me an example or two? What does ‘reason of request’ usually stand for?
Thank you so much!

I think they got it wrong. It should read "Reason for request". "Reason" is only ever followed by "of" in "by reason of", which means "because of", and where "reason" means "rational thought".
