Really

Hello Teachers,

1.He is really a good boy.

2.He is a really good boy.

I want to know that if there is an adjective modifying a singular noun and an adverb modifying that adjective then where I should put the article.

Which one is correct?

Thanks.

For the situation you describe you want the article before both the adverb and the adjective. He is a really good boy. She is a very talented singer.

Your sentence (1) is also a correct sentence, but has a different meaning: He is truely a good boy. (I know he has been arrested three times this month, but he is really a good boy - he has just had some bad luck lately.) Sentence (2) is the situation you describe, where "really" serves as an adverb modifying "good and meaning the same as "very."
