Realized that I had left immediately

1-John realized that I had left the building immediately.

Can this sentence mean two things:

a-John realized that I had immediately left the building.

b-John immediately realized that I had left the building.

I suppose 'a' would be the natural interpretation, but is 'b' impossible?

Gratefully,
Navi.
