Realistic chances

Hi

Could you please tell me if you find the use of REALISTIC CHANCES natural in this sentences?

The realistic chances are he will be late tonight.

Thanks,

Tom

PS: Should I use a comma after are?

I'd say the comma is optional. In my opinion, the sentence is natural, but not very common. Others may disagree.
