Could you please tell me if you find the use of REALISTIC CHANCES natural in this sentences?

The realistic chances are he will be late tonight.

I'd probably say, "Realistically, [the] chances are he'll be late tonight."

The collocation "realistic chances" is a bit upper register, and the situation here seems quite casual.
