Realistic and Optimistic

Yesterday during our English class we had a discussion about different views on life:
pessimistic, realistic and optimistic.
In general I am tend to be realistic.
However I am trying to be realistic in order to be a balanced person and neither overestimate nor underestimate the world as it is.
But yesterday's discussion made me change a bit my standpoint.
Now I think that the optimism and high expectations can support you to stay strong even when the situation is not very favorable.
When we don't dare to expect for our wishes come true (even if it seems to be just a dream and miracle) then we limit our own abilities and opportunities.
Sometimes there are situations when we have to take some action and that is when we need that higher mark of expectations. That will help to be oriented/motivated better.
