Title: The Hunger Games
Author: Suzanne Collins Text Type: Novel
Point: In the Hunger Games, I strongly agreed with the way that the author Suzanne Collins portrayed the Government, I think that is a very accurate interpretation. In the Hunger Games the government are portrayed to be very brutal and unfair, in my opinion this is very accurate and sometimes much like we see in our government today. The Government take 2 tributes from each of the 12 districts and force them to fight to the death in an arena, a few days before the Hunger Games Katniss was talking to her friend Gale about the issue, “they round us up like sheep, then put us in an arena to fight to the death, and if we don’t fight.. They kill us” “We are just lambs on our way to the slaughter house”. These quotes show us how the Capitol just treats them like pets and have no respect for them. This also shows how brutal the government is towards their citizens in the Districts. The capitol also keeps the food supply very low for the districts (District 12 getting barely anything). Katniss needs to hunt in the woods to feed her family because they don’t give them enough food to survive, “I hunt at every opportunity I can”. This shows how unfair the Capitol is towards their Districts. The Capitol clearly has enough food to go around because when Katniss went to the Capitol she saw them with mountains of food. Katniss said “there is so much food here”. This novel opened up my eyes and see the government and how they do, do these kinds of things epically in places like Zimbabwe where the Government are very cruel and unfair to their citizens, they force them to vote for someone and if they don’t they kill them, they also kill their own people for fun. I loved the way Suzanne Collins portrayed the Capitol I think it really sent a clear message to the audience and how we shouldn’t let the government treat us like that.
Thanks in advance
