Read quickly

Hi,

What is the difference among -

flicking through a book

fliping through a book

browse through a book

Also, if I am reading very quickly an electronic article instead of a book, what is the verb for the action?

How about an electronic book and a website?

Thanks in advance

"flicking through a book" and "fli pp ing through a book" mean the same thing to me. They both suggest a cursory glance at the pages, not reading anything in detail. "browsing (through) a book" is slightly different.

  • It suggests that a little more attention is being paid: the browser may be reading a paragraph or two here, then skipping a couple of pages and reading some more.
  • You can use any of the above for an electronic document read from a screen -- provided it's a reasonably long document consisting of a reasonable number of pages.
