Read or read about your problem

Hello people! Could someone help me with the structure of a sentence? Let's suppose that we've read a letter in a column in which someone wrote about a personal problem. So, when we answer to give some advice should we begin writing "I have read about your problem and.." or "I have read your problem and.."??
